Techies can seem slow to embrace philanthropy - News from USA TODAY
Techies can seem slow to embrace philanthropy - News from USA TODAY: Philanthropic agencies last month eagerly anticipated Facebook’s initial public stock offering, which tech industry analysts said might create some 850 new millionaires.
They hoped they’d get to “like” some of the newfound wealth, too.
While the early performance of the stock has fallen below expectations, anticipation remains high in the non-profit community.

Data in service for others
- The Washington Post: The 36-hour hackathon, held last March in the District, was organized by the recently incorporated nonprofit DataKind that looks to match nonprofits with data experts to help improve the work of charities.
By the end of the night, one child advocacy nonprofit turned a spreadsheet of data into an interactive map that shows the well-being of children by neighborhood in the District. An environmental foundation learned to use Google analytics and other software tools to understand the effectiveness of its national volunteer event.

Good Works Co. - Tools and Resources from AFP Techknow
Good Works Co. - Tools and Resources from AFP Techknow: I’m just back from the inaugural AFP TechKnow Conference, which took place earlier this week in Orlando. It was a jam-packed few days and I’m still processing all the information I took in.
Over the two days of the conference, speakers referred to many tools and websites that could be used for reference, analytics and measurement. As well, a few of us were storifying sessions, and many speakers posted their handouts to Slideshare or the Techknow website. I thought it would be worth pulling all those great references together into one place.
