AFP > Resource Center | Fundraising news > Website Features User Feedback on U.S. Charities: "Website Features User Feedback on U.S. Charities

(Nov. 3, 2008) A new website called GreatNonprofits allows donors to post reviews and ratings of charities. Charities, in turn, are able to customize their page and ask for donations.

The goal of the new service, begun November 2007, is to offer a similar tool for donors as customers have in the for-profit sector for reviewing businesses. “The closest comparison to our site is probably Yelp.com, because we give people a chance to describe their experience with a nonprofit, good or bad,” explained Shari Ilsen, director of marketing and outreach at GreatNonprofits, which is based in Palo Alto, Calif. Yelp.com is a website featuring customer reviews of businesses"

StartupsNigeria » Exclusive Interview with Temi Kolawole on BarCampAfrica

StartupsNigeria » Exclusive Interview with Temi Kolawole on BarCampAfrica: "SN: You just came back from BarCampAfrica held in California. Please tell us what it was all about.

Temi: BarCamp is basically an informal gathering of people to share ideas, based mainly around technology. I must confess that BarCampAfrica was a little different from others I’ve attended, in that I expected it to be a technology event, but found it to be a lot more about African development and charity. That’s of concern to me. I believe there’s extreme poverty all over the world, in Asia, Europe and other places, but we all still find it
very hard to talk about Africa, without focusing on charity and aid."

What's Your Strategy for IT and Globalization? | SMART ENTERPRISE INSIGHTS AND PERSPECTIVES FOR THE CIO: "PRABHASH SHRESTHA | CIO
The Association of Fundraising Professionals

Globalization, for us, means two different things. First, our association serves members in close to 40 countries, so we have to be able to serve our members directly all over the world in different time zones, with different currencies, local laws and shipping practices. Second, we have 197 local chapters, each with its own administration and offices. So our global focus is on several projects that will help the member experience by improving the way our chapters do business and receive and disseminate information."
