Home - ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership: "The difference between professional and personal uses of Facebook
Started using Facebook in college for social purposes, uploaded messages, pictures, events, sorority fundraising. Has since invaded professional life
Personal Facebook page was too personal. When business colleagues started adding as friend it became clear that is was not a good mix. Created second Facebook account for business networking purposes."

Virtual Worlds, Nonprofit Realities
http://www.nonprofitquarterly.org/content/view/280/1: "Nonprofits are piling into the virtual world of Second Live and similar online venues. What might seem to many as simply “role-playing games” or RPGs, Second Life and its ilk are becoming increasingly real life environments, with financial benefits and consequences, for players and nonprofits. Demo 2008: Good2Gether Uses Social Technology to Help Nonprofits | Epicenter from Wired.com: "Founder Gregory McHale came up with the idea for Good2Gether while looking up information on Hurricane Katrina. He created a widget which scans the text of an article and finds relevant nonprofits, then targets the results to the reader's geographic location (based on IP address), so that the reader has easy access to nonprofits in his or her local community."

In the world of Venture Philanthropy, charity begins globally and, more often than not, online. As Salvatore LaSpada, chief executive of the UK-based Institute for Philanthropy, told the FT last month, young people who have created significant amounts of wealth very rapidly are taking the same 'boundary-crossing drive into their philanthropy'. This is at the base of the 'new philanthropy', which is perceived to be more ambitious and more business-like."
