Attendee Experience Mapping - ASAE Technology Conference & Expo

Attendee Experience Mapping - ASAE Technology Conference & Expo: "What is a Customer Journey Map?
Often used by Fortune 500 Companies, customer journey maps allow you to walk in the shoes of your customer by traveling with them as they interact with your company. They provide an accurate outside-in view, focusing on desired outcomes from the customer’s perspective. (Michael Hinshaw, 2012). They help illustrate individual customer’s needs, interactions that are necessary to fulfill those needs, and the resulting emotional states a customer experiences throughout the process. (Joel Flom, 2011)

How can we take this concept and turn it into a model that would helpful for associations & meeting planners to assess their own meetings and plan more successful ones in the future? The M&E Council is using Customer Journey Maps as a guide to create our own model for associations & meeting planners; we are calling it “ExperienceGuru”."

Why Brands Are Ditching Twitter’s 6-Second Vine App | Adweek

Why Brands Are Ditching Twitter’s 6-Second Vine App | Adweek: ""In the last six months or so, brands have started to de-emphasize Vine as a channel because of the targeting capabilities on all these other platforms."
Data is proving this out. Video analytics firm Tubular Labs reviewed Vine, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts of 40 major brands, including Coca-Cola, Target and Dunkin' Donuts. Between September and November, marketers posted 2,500 social videos, and Vine contributed just 113 of those clips—equivalent to 4 percent of branded content."

Donor Development and the Marriage of Quantitative and Qualitative Data | Nonprofit Quarterly

Donor Development and the Marriage of Quantitative and Qualitative Data | Nonprofit Quarterly: "How do qualitative and quantitative data help in your fundraising? Here are some thoughts that are less about tools and more about how information can be used to help us communicate more effectively.

From data about nonprofits themselves to the data that nonprofits use to woo donors, we have no dearth of information about the nonprofit relationship with, well, information. The road to “big data” started with the information explosion in the 1940s, and libraries, governments, companies and nonprofits have played catch-up ever since. In the past few years in particular, as web tools become increasingly accessible, data has been seen as the key to donations and impact."

Chatting About Planned Giving With Timothy Logan, FAHP, ACFRE - Resource Center - AFP

Chatting About Planned Giving With Timothy Logan, FAHP, ACFRE - Resource Center - AFP: "5. If you could design an app for Planned Giving newbies what would it do?

There's a lot a PG app could do so let's stick with what would be helpful to have right at your fingertips:

PG Definitions – key terms defined.
PG Gift Concepts – a listing of each type of gift and an explanation of the four core characteristics of each:  target age, target wealth, donor’s charitable goal, donor’s financial goal.
PG content – apps are all about content so I would want to access off of my organization’s PG brochures.
Gift calculator – the app would contain a PG gift calculation tool and, of course, the monthly discount rate would update automatically.
Portfolio management:  the app would allow me to upload my top (50 or so) PG prospects where I could rate them and track contact with them.

NASA Experiments with Drones and a Showy Delivery to a Rural Nonprofit | Nonprofit Quarterly

NASA Experiments with Drones and a Showy Delivery to a Rural Nonprofit | Nonprofit Quarterly: "NPQ has written previously about nonprofits that are experimenting with the use of drones. This story, too, comes with a sense of foreboding derived from the conviction that drones are far more likely to be used against civil society than for it. But personal feelings aside, on Friday, the first FAA-approved drone deliveries were made—in this case, transporting packages of medical supplies to an annual health fair in Wise County, Virginia, which is in the middle of Appalachian coal country."

On Using What You Have to Resist Buying What You Do Not Need: An IT Fable from the Front Lines | Nonprofit Quarterly

On Using What You Have to Resist Buying What You Do Not Need: An IT Fable from the Front Lines | Nonprofit Quarterly: "he Nonprofit Quarterly has heard any number of stories about nonprofits trying to piece together the right IT infrastructure only to be met with a confusing array of options. Each of the options carries attendant costs beyond the purchase or lease—sometimes up to and including the need to purchase another solution when the one opted for does not fit properly. We liked this story from Trish Tchume of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN), who engaged people within her own network to help get the right fit. In the end, she wound up not only with a system suited to the network’s needs but also a group of people within that network who are ongoing and engaged resources for YNPN as it moves into a more sophisticated digital future."

Technologies and Practices for Managing Outcomes: Lessons From Large Nonprofits | Idealware: "How does your organization know it is making a difference? It’s a tough question—especially for nonprofits that aren’t providing services to a specific set of clients—but one no organization can afford to ignore. The pressure to stay focused on outcomes is growing as funders and the general public have put more emphasis on transparency and the ability to see a transformative return on their investments. Many nonprofits have found themselves scrambling to develop a system that accurately captures outcomes and shares them with program teams and funders. The belief that other nonprofits have figured out an efficient and effective outcomes management system—including a robust set of software options—only adds to the pressure."
