Council launching website for direct funding requests | - SILive.com: "STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Prompted by calls for more public disclosure on how nearly $50 million of discretionary funds are allocated, the City Council is launching a searchable public database of nonprofit organizations that apply for and receive that money.
The Council will also increase vetting procedures for the funds, restrict the groups from hiring consultants who may be close to members, and limit the amount of money that goes to new groups or through organizations serving as fiscal conduits."
