Rice professor bringing hand-held technology to schools in India | Ultimate West U: "Krishna Palem, a Rice University professor, is leading an effort on three continents to create a low-cost, electronic version of the hand-held slates that millions of Indian children use in school's today.
Thanks to a partnership between Rice, Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Villages for Development and Learning Foundation (ViDAL), an Indian nonprofit, some of the estimated 100 million Indian children who attend schools without electricity may soon have access to electronic notepads."
