HERALD-PROGRESS, Ashland VA, Hanover,Mechanicsville, Montpelier, Beaverdam, Kings Dominion,Tomato Festival,Train,Patriots, Atlee, Randolph Macon,Newspaper,Breaking News in VA: "The Community Foundation announced Jan. 28 that the Amazing Raise—a 36-hour online giving event—will not continue this year, ending its five-year run that has seen more than $7 million unrestricted funds generated since 2011.
Following the announcement The Community Foundation spokesperson Kim Russell said that the decision to end the event came as a result of independent online fundraisers, such as Kickstarter, rising to prominence in the past few years.
“Five years ago not as many nonprofits had an online giving portal on their website, more do now. We were just kind of looking at where the event had gone and where it could go,” she said."
