Company Ban on Friday Internal E-mails Still Working
Company Ban on Friday Internal E-mails Still Working: "Company Ban on Friday Internal E-mails Still Working By Kathy Gurchiek Not sending or responding to internal e-mail may sound like crazy talk, but it’s a concept that continues to work more than a year after PBD Worldwide Fulfillment Services introduced “no e-mail Fridays” in June 2006. Part of that success is derived from forcing employees to call other employees or pay them a visit. “Once you get a personal connection with somebody, you don’t want to e-mail anymore,” said Lisa Williams, SPHR, PBD’s vice president of HR in Alpharetta, Ga. It started when Scott A. Dockter, the company’s CEO, became concerned that an over-dependence on e-mail was hurting the productivity, and perhaps sales, of the company’s storage and distribution service, which serves associations, nonprofits, educational publishers and faith-based groups."
