TORONTO (CP) - BlackBerry users could slowly start to receive a backlog of e-mails this morning as the company tries to return its servers to normal after an outage brought them to a screeching halt.
A massive system failure blocked BlackBerry e-mail for about eight million users in the Western Hemisphere, though as of midmorning on Wednesday, Waterloo, Ont.-based Research In Motion (TSX:RIM) remained publicly silent about the problem.
Some users on BlackBerry forums said they were starting to see signs of life on their devices as e-mails sent last night began to pour in. But most were still waiting.
And as of 9 a.m. ET, The firm's customer support centre, at 1-877-255-2377, carried a brief recorded message reporting a 'service interruption' causing delays in e-mail transmission."
