Nonprofits awaken to the power of the Internet - Long Island Business News: "Ed Lally, vice president of development for The Hospice Care Network, sat in front of a colorful quilt with panels on which people wrote messages such as “My dad was no. 1,” “I miss my dad,” and “I love my grandpa in heaven.” Quilts like these provide both moving memorials and money for charities.
But this Woodbury-based group plans to take that idea into the 21st century, asking people to donate toward a virtual quilt, designing online panels for a high-tech tapestry that will exist on screen.
The group hopes to debut its virtual quilt within a few months."
